Sunday Drive!

A few weekends ago, Chris and I decided that we needed to get away from the house and just relax. As you all know, photography is a very relaxing pastime for both of us.
When we came upon this pond we had to pull over for a bit. There were tons of ducks and geese enjoying the warm weather.

These 3 were the only white ones that we saw in the bunch.

Some of them seemed to be having lots of fun cooling off in the pond.....

and others were just out for a stroll.

Busy Day!

My friend Donna from work brought us some Zucchini this week. When I say Zucchini I mean ZUCCHINI! She brought us 3 of them this size. We gave one to Mom, cut one up and put it in the freezer and here is what I did with the 3rd one.
I made PEA's Zucchini Drop Cookies.
Click HERE to get her recipe.

Thanks Pea, the cookies are really good.

I also made Zucchini Bread. One loaf for us and one in the freezer for an upcoming camping trip.

While I was baking, Chris was working on other food. He made Buffalo Chicken Dip for a snack during the race. Yeah Jimmie Johnson!!!

He also used the smoker for the first time today. He made a dry rub for these boneless pork ribs.

Here is what they looked like after a few hours in the smoker.

We both enjoyed our first attempt at cooking in the smoker.

We hope you enjoyed your Sunday too.

Thank You / Yum-O!

We received the "I Love Your Blog" Award from Racquel at The Perennial Garden Lover. Thank You so much for giving us this award and for all of the great comments you leave us.
Now the rules state that we must chose seven bloggers whose blog we also love... then pass this award along to them. It is difficult to select just 7 since we have so many blogs that we enjoy visiting.
Our recipients are:
Utah Grammie from "Main Street Memories"
Leesa from "Peace Of My Mind"
Melissa from "Those Northern Skies"
Pea from "Pea's Corner"
Lallee from "Lallee's Cottage"

We would also like to share an easy pie recipe with you that Chris' Mom shared with us. This was what we brought to our Labor Day picnic at Laurie's Mom's house.

Sinful Pie

Doesn't it look yummy?

1/4 C. butter

2/3 C. of pecans

1--7 oz. bag of coconut

8 oz. cream cheese

1 can eagle brand milk

16 oz. cool whip

2 graham cracker or Oreo pie crusts

1/2 jar caramel topping

Melt butter in a skillet. saute pecans and coconut until lightly browned. Blend together cream cheese and eagle brand milk. Fold in cool whip. Pre bake crusts for 5 minutes at 350 degrees. Layer whipped mixture, nut mixture and caramel in pie crusts, saving some of nut mixture and caramel for tops of pies. Refrigerate for 4 hours or can be frozen. We prefer them frozen.

I Can Do It Too!

We went to our 2nd Labor Day picnic at Mom's house last Sunday. Click HERE to check out her post about it. Jerzie decided that she had enough of other people blowing bubbles and wanted to do it herself.

We tried to show her how to blow into the wand, but she kept blowing through her teeth.

She kept taking deep breaths and trying very hard.

She got very excited and kept giggling every time she got it to work.

She had to switch bubbles and wands to see if the other ones worked better.

She sure was one determined little girl. We all have so much fun watching her learn how to do something new. Probably by the next time we see her she will be doing better than we are.

Special Mushroom!

Have you seen these mushrooms growing on trees in the woods?
Take a good look at them next time you do.

My Dad did and look what he did with them.

I have always loved this mushroom. I always thought that it was cool that Dad drew on it and it looks so neat after it dried.

I was so excited when I found it on Dads shelf.

This is the back of the mushroom.

I have it displayed next to one of our favorite pictures from the Adirondacks.

We already posted this on Dad's Blog, but wanted the people that don't go to his Blog to see it.
