My Bushes Are Moving!!

Can you see what is in our bushes?

When I got home from work last night I parked in the driveway so I could unload the groceries. I put all of the groceries away and started out the door. I took one look at the bushes and knew that I had to run and get the camera.

We had little birds all over our bushes. There was even one on the white bench and in the pine tree.

I got a few good pictures. I wish I would have thought to press the record button on the camera. It was really neat to see. All of the sudden they would all take off at once, fly in a circle and come right back to the bushes.

I even walked back by the garage and they stayed right where they were. They just kept singing their song.

Here is a close up of them. Aren't they just the cutest little guys?

Can You See Me Now?

As most of you know Baby J's Daddy, Grandpa and Uncle Chris all love to hunt. So when Baby J. opened this camo dress at her birthday party all of the guys thought it was so cool.

I think Baby J. is playing a game with me.
Do you see the lace towards the bottom of her dress?

Oh look she is looking at me now, with a cute little smirk on her face.
She sure is thirsty today.

She has little ruffled camo panties on to cover her diaper too. Mommy and Daddy's friends Jim and Jill bought this cute outfit for baby J.

Sure, she smiled after she turned her head on me.

You can tell she is laughing at me. Do you think she knows that I am going to take her picture or what?

Last Garden Done!

We worked outside in the yard most of the day Sunday to get the mulching done and the yard picked up. We are very happy that it is done. Everything looks so much nicer.

We planted some of the flowers that we dug up this spring in the garden. We planted Coneflowers, Black-Eyed Susans, and two different colors of Campion.

Try not to look at the great piece of art that our very rude neighbor put behind our fence. (and he says our fence is an eye sore.)

This is what Chris's truck looked like by the end of the day. We have to go to the yard waste dump, but they are only open on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings.

The yard looks great except for the areas that need some grass seed. :)

Timber!!!

Chris's Dad and Mom had a tree that got struck by lightning many years ago. Someone came in and removed most of the tree but left this part. It was probably 20-25 feet tall.
Well, they came home one day last week and part of it had fallen off. It was really rotten and just broke off. They were nervous that more of it might fall off and possibly hurt someone.

Chris went over and helped his dad take the rest of it down. He got to use his new chainsaw again!!!

It only took about an hour to take it down.

This is the main trunk. It was close to 3 feet across.

This is what is left of it. It all needs to be cut up into small pieces and taken to the yard waste dump. I think we are going on Saturday.

A Thank You for Lilli !

Just a little thank you for Lilli from Make Mine Blissful. She had a giveaway and sent me something really beautiful. Click HERE to check out her post about the giveaway.

I got the gift on Saturday.

It came with this cute card and some very nice things written inside.

The envelope was even special. Look at the flower that Lilli drew on it. It also had these 2 cute little tiles in it.

After reading the card and looking at the tiles, I opened the gift that was wrapped in purple tissue paper. (my favorite color) It is a beautiful scarf. I really love it. Thanks again for the gifts and for all the nice things that you wrote in the card.

Green Thumb Sunday!

These pictures of a butterfly bush were taken at a green house we visit often. We were talking to the owner and the monarch came and landed on the bush. I couldn't help myself. I had to get a picture.

These Hydrangea pictures were also taken at the greenhouse. The color of these caught my eye. They look so delicate.
We are going to work in our gardens now and try to get the rest of our mulching done. It rained most of the week or was way to hot to work outside. It has cooled down so we can get some work done.
Have a great GTS!
Thanks for stopping by.

Auction Part 2 !

When mom and I got to the auction and were looking around, she said "if I bid on a chair slap me upside the head". She got a chair AND a slap in the head for her money. LOL!

Mom got the wood pieces and the old bucket for $1.00. She has big plans for the box of wood already.

Next she bid on this box full of boxes. We both were going to bid on this but mom was faster with her bids.

This was the only box that I cared about. When I was younger, Super Lou kept our crayons in a box like this. It was really cool to find a box like that again. Mom was nice enough to give me the box.

Mom also bought a pile of windows. She has a lot of plans in her head for these windows.

At the end of the auction, this table was still there. Somehow they had missed it during the auction. Mom and another lady both asked about it. Mike held a private auction just between the two of them. This was what we had to go back to pick up on Friday.

Here is one of my big investments. I want to use it as a trellis in one of my gardens.

I'm not sure what I am going to use this for yet, but thought it was really cool anyway.

Even the tines are made out of wood.

We both bid on a few other items but got outbid. We think we both did pretty good for our first auction.

First Ever !

Last night Mom and I went to our first auction. Oh my goodness. It was definitely an exciting evening. The auction was at one of moms customers that she has known for years.

This big tent was in their yard. The auction started at 5:30. We got there about 4:45 so we could look around a little bit.

There was tons of stuff.

This is Mike Peterson. (the man in the baseball cap) He was the auctioneer. He is so funny. Mom told him that she used to babysit him and he thought it was pretty funny.

Check out the video. It sure is hard to figure out what is going on.

(you may want to pause the song playing by clicking twice on the pause button in our sidebar)

Here are a few pictures that I took before the auction started. Some of them aren't the greatest because I was under the tent.

Look at all the chairs. Which one do you think mom went home with?

Here is what the back end of moms car looked like when we left the auction.

We have to go back today to pick up something else that mom bought. I will have to fill you in on what we bought in another post. If you are visiting from moms blog, she will be up and running soon.

More Lilies!!

We wanted you to get an idea of how many Lilies the Tate's have, so we took some pictures of the field.

If you look close, you can see Laurie at the far end of the field.

This will give you an idea of how big the field is. Chris is at one end taking the pictures and I am at the other where the Lilies start.

There is also a smaller field on the other side that also has Lilies in it.

See how big the plants are?

Every Lily is marked. (if it has been named) Some of the types are so new that they aren't even named yet.

The pictures really don't do the Lilies justice. If you have missed our up close pictures please check out the posts by clicking HERE and HERE.

We hope this gives you a better idea of how big the field of Lilies is. We can't wait until next year so we can get the early bloomers.
