Day Off During The Week!

I don't get them very often, but I had to take one off this week. Since my department is floral, I have to work the weekend for Mother's Day. We can't work more than six days in a row, so today was my day off. What does a person who isn't used to having a day during the week off do all day?
I went through the Wendy's drive through for lunch and then drove to a near by park to eat. I had to stay in the car because it was way too windy. The lake wasn't very calm today. Then I ran to the mall and found nothing that I was looking for. As I was driving I kept seeing these pretty pink trees, but there was no where I could stop to take pictures.
I got a brain storm.
I went to the cemetery. (Yes Mom I went to the cemetery!!) When my brother and I were young we went to the cemetery all the time. We went there while mom was giving a very special lady in our lives a perm and cleaning her house for her. Auntie Phy (We really weren't related, but they treated us like their own) was crippled due to having arthritis so bad that she didn't get out much. Uncle Mif would take Kim and I to the ice cream shop and then drive around the cemetery with us. He always had great stories to tell.

Uncle Mif and Auntie Phy have both passed away, but it was really weird how the memories of them came back to me while driving around a cemetery.

I got some great photos. I believe most of them are Cherry trees of some kind and a few are Dogwoods.

I'm not sure what this one is but it was very fragrant.

I have some more photos to show you, but decided to show all the pink trees today.

I also took pictures of white trees.

I hope you had a nice day like I did.

Bloomin' Tuesday #2

One of the good things about working at Walmart is that most of the time when we have a sale I know what is going to be on sale and can buy it if I really want it. Last week they had 3" potted tulips for .60 cents each, so a flat of 18 was only $10.80. I had to buy one for me and one for mom. Here are some pictures of the ones that are open so far. I haven't planted too many tulips in my gardens, so I think these will be a nice sign of spring for years to come.

Do you have Allergies?

After weeding on Saturday this is what both of my arms looked like. My legs didn't look like this because I sat on a piece of cardboard while weeding. Do you think I am allergic to something in my garden? It always goes away a little while after I have taken a shower.

I have been using a Neti Pot for three weeks now. I can't believe the difference. I used to blow my nose ALL the time and sniff ALL the time but I don't anymore.

What is a Neti Pot you ask.
Neti Pots are the best treatment for sinus ailments! They are easy to use and provide instant relief for everything from common allergies to chronic sinusitis. Neti Pots work when other treatment options have failed!

Trouble!

At 7:30 am on Thursday my cell phone rang while I was at work. I thought it was weird. No one calls me at work. When I looked at the screen it said "Mom". I thought she was calling to let me know she had time to give me a haircut. I just let my voice mail pick up the call. When I listened to the message she said you need to see the paper today. There is something in it that will make you smile. So on my first break I bought a paper and went to the section that Mom told me to go to.
Every day in the paper they have a section called "In Years Past". It is things that have happened in our little town years ago. They do 100 years ago, 50 years ago and 10 years ago.

I think we know the person from the 50 years ago story. If it wasn't for Uncle John calling mom, we might not have seen it. (thanks Uncle!)

That's my father. (the 9 year old)

We all got a good laugh out of this. Neither Mom or Sharon had ever heard this story before. I wonder what other stories Dad hasn't told anyone about.

What Ever It Is!

It has buds! We still aren't sure what kind of tree this is, but it is getting flowers on it. Do you have any guesses what it is?

Something My Handyman Couldn't Do!

We had to call Chris's friend over to look at our satellite. He is the one that installed it about 3 years ago. We could get the TV upstairs to work but not down stairs. We haven't had any problems with our satellite until now.

When he installed it, he had to put it on the garage and run 2 cables under the ground from the garage to the house. Well one of the cables must have been damaged some how because we only had one signal coming into the house. He hooked up a new LNB (the part the sticks out at the end of the dish arm) that only needed one cable for both signals and used the cable that was still good.

Everything is working fine again, but we don't know how the cable could have been damaged. Chris checked the above ground portion for damage and didn't see any. It must be damaged under the ground somewhere.

Those darn Chipmunks!!!

Visiting Grandpa!

We went down to Dads on Friday to put the blade back on the lawnmower. Jerzie and daddy were there when we got there. Jerzie LOVES to be outside, so we all went outside while Kim and Chris put the blade back on the mower.

I painted this little guy for dad for his birthday a few years ago. He puts him up in the yard every year. Jerzie loves his fishy.
Dad had to try the sharpened blade out to see if it was OK. Can you believe how green his lawn is?

He had a flat tire so he couldn't go too far.

Jerzie loved that she could just run and play around grandpas lawn.

Grandpa was chasing her and telling her he was going to get her.

She is gone!!!

She is trying to learn how to blow bubbles. Daddy bought her spill proof bubbles. Mommy came down when she got out of work.
Since day one Jerzie has love to be scared. If you hide from her she laughs when you jump out at her. She will say do it again. Daddy tells her he is going to drop her and she just grins at him.
He didn't drop her. I thought this picture was so funny. You should hear her giggle when daddy does this to her.

Jerzie took this picture. I sat the camera down for a minute so I could help her and she pressed the right button. Can you see her little finger? Jerzie Shea you are growing up too fast.
