Hooray for you!! I love flowering trees. :)
My guess is a Pink Dogwood. I've taken pictures of a white one and a pink one this week (for bloomin Tuesday!) and the leaves look the same. The ones I've photograghed are in bloom but your in NY so you'll probably later then we are in Maryland. I'll post the pictures on Tuesday!
hmm. I am guessing an apple, crab apple?
It might be a pear tree. They have shiny leaves like that I think.
