Water !

We had a hard time picking which pictures to use for this weeks photo hunt, but we think we choose the right ones. All three pictures were taken in the Adirondacks.

This is mirror lake. On a calm day the lake is so clear and smooth it looks just like a mirror. You can fish in mirror lake but you can't use live bait. No motor boats are allowed on mirror lake. That is why it stay so clean and clear.

This is a place we stopped at to do a little hiking. You wouldn't believe how fast this water was traveling. The sound was so loud. It was amazing just to stand a listen to it. It is hard to believe that the water carved out the rocks like this.

This is another photo of mirror lake from a different spot of the lake. You can walk around the lake on a "bike path". It is 2.5 miles all the way around. We have blown this photo up and have it in our Computer/Scrapbook room, so we see it every day.
If you click on the pictures they will enlarge.
Have a great time on the hunt today. Please leave a comment so we can come visit you!!

D.R. Update

Here are a couple pictures of the dinning room. I finished the first coat of paint on the walls. I started hanging up the new light while I was waiting for the paint to dry.

I have one more coat of paint to put on the walls. Then all I have left is to paint the trim and do touch-up. Then I can pull the plastic off of the hardwood floor, move the furniture back in, and adjust the height of the light fixture.

After the dinning room is done, I will be starting on the kitchen!

This -n- That!

Not much going on today. I finally got back to work in the dinning room while Laurie was at work. I will post some pictures of that tomorrow.

Since we missed the hour that we usually have with Baby J. last night, we thought we would post some pictures we took last Saturday. She was really wound up. She took a 3 hour nap before she came to visit, and she was ready to PLAY!!!
Here are a few more pictures from The Greenhouse.
Click on each picture to enlarge.
Peace Lily. This flower was close to 12 inches tall.

Easter Lily

Amaryllis

This is a Japanese Shrimp Plant. Notice the white tails on each bloom.

Near the greenhouse there are cultural gardens. They have gardens set up displaying flowers and plants from different countries around the world. There wasn't very much in bloom at this time of year, but I bet they are beautiful when in full bloom. We may have to take another road trip this summer.

Cleveland Rocks!

Today we drove to Cleveland to take my fathers wife to Cleveland Clinic. She had to go for a surgical follow up appointment. It is about 3 hours from where we live. Luckily it was a great day for a drive.
While they were at the appointment, we decided to drive around instead of sitting in the waiting room. On the way to the clinic, we drove through Rockefeller Park, and decided to go back to check it out.
We stopped and took some pictures of this pond....

and the wildlife that was there.

Chris picked the right street to drive up. We found The Rockefeller Park Greenhouse.
Plans for the City Greenhouse were presented in 1902. Three years later the first units were completed on a portion of the 270 acres donated to the City by John D. Rockefeller. The Greenhouse was initially used solely for growing the plants used to landscape City parks and gardens. The Greenhouse and grounds have since evolved into a Botanical garden with specialty plant collections, seasonal floral displays, and theme gardens.

There are exotic Orchids and Bromeliads displayed in bloom.

This is one of the Orchids. (Ladies Slipper)

Click HERE to check out their website.

This is a Gardenia. It is warm weather shrub that can grow up to 6 feet tall.

This tree is growing along the winding paths of one of the outdoor gardens.
After our exciting day, we started the long drive home. We stopped at the Cracker Barrel in Erie for dinner.
We didn't expect to enjoy ourselves while in Cleveland, but we really did. The best part is that it was free!

A Sea of Crocus!

You know spring is here when you drive by this house.
When spring arrived, Gram ( Super Lou ) would call me up and say "Laurie Ann, will you take me for a ride past the house that has all the Crocus in the front yard?"

There are so many flowers. It is so pretty. Gram would say "pull over so I can get a closer look."

Well today when I got home from work I told Chris I was going for a drive. He said he would take me. As you can see, he pulled over so I could get a closer look. If you click on the photos they will get bigger for you to get a closer look.

FYI !

American Idol Fans

If you haven't seen Elliott Yamin on any of the talk shows he has been on lately, please take a few minutes to watch his video. We bought his CD and it is worth it. We have really enjoyed it.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Housecall!

I spent part of my day yesterday at my (favorite) mother-in-laws house. She has been having some computer problems lately. (programs not opening properly, errors and just slow operation)

I added some system memory, cleaned up her hard drive and did quite a few updates. I still have 1 more thing to fix, but it seems to be running a lot better and faster than before.
Now I just have to figure out how much to charge her.
(HA HA)
I did make a house call, and it was a Saturday!

Our First Flower!

Today all of the snow on our main garden melted. Look what was waiting for us when we went outside to check out the yard tonight. Of course we had the camera with us.
(what good scrapbooker/blogger wouldn't?)
Is it true? Is spring really here?
We hope so!

Waiting For Spring!

These are some pictures we took last spring. We are waiting patiently for the snow to melt here. (HURRY UP WOULD YOU:)
It is supposed to be pretty warm out for a while now. It actually warmed up to the low 60's today.

We really love taking pictures of our gardens. These were taken with our new camera. It was very new to us last year. Now that we have practiced with the camera and all the settings we can't wait for the gardens to start blooming.

12 Years!!!

Today is my 12th anniversary at Walmart. I can't believe I have been there for that long. After working as a Cashier, a Department Manager, in the Cash Office, as a CSM, and as a floor associate I am finally working a job that I love. It only took 11 years! I enjoy my job in Floral so much that I don't mind going to work.
(Did I really just say that???)

Have a Smiley day!!!

Winter Time In New York!

When it's Winter time in New York,
And the gentle breezes blow,
About seventy miles an hour
And it's fifty-two below.

You can tell you're in New York
'cause the snow's up to your butt,
And you take a breath of Winter air
And your nose holes both freeze shut.
The weather here is wonderful,
So I guess I'll hang around,
I could NEVER leave New York,
My feet are frozen to the ground.

Are You Kidding Me???

There were some angry people in our household this afternoon......
The race was supposed to start at 1:30 and when we turned the TV on this is what channel 29 looked like. Our local Fox station out of Buffalo was having some technical difficulties. We were preparing to listen to the race on the radio (boring), but it came on at about 1:25.

Quotes from Nascar.com
"It's Jimmie's world"
"Johnson passes Stewart with three to go to win at Atlanta"
It's a good thing, I wouldn't want to miss Jimmie winning!!!
Sorry there are no recipe's this week (Julie), but Laurie had the flu this weekend so we didn't eat anything too exciting.

Drink!

These are a couple of our favorite drinks for this time of year.

We can't wait until McDonald's has Shamrock Shakes. It is too bad they only have them for a couple of weeks. (just like the Eggnog ones at Christmas time)

This is one of Chris's favorites, Green Beer. I don't see what the big deal is, it tastes the same as any other beer.

Have fun "Hunting"
