SILVER!!

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the word silver for this weeks photo hunt was silver dollars. My Grandmother (Super Lou) worked for the thruway as a toll collector. When people paid with silver coins or silver certificates, she would trade her own money for the one they paid with. When we were little we used to think it was cool to play with the coins. When Chris was little he used to get silver dollars from his Grandparents on New Years Day just for saying "Happy New Year" to them. How funny that a word could bring back so many memories for both of us.

Great choice for the Hunt. I thought of Silver Dollars too - my aunt had a bunch. But I didn't have the right photo.

Wow, your post brings back memories. When I was little my Aunt Betty would give my sister and me a silver dollar every Christmas along with something she made. That was neat that your grandma would too. I love these photo themes and the memories they can sometimes bring.

Thanks for sharing and for stopping by,
Biker Betty :)

Both my grandmothers were fond of giving my children silver dollars on special occasions. I hope they still have them somewhere!

My grandparents used to collect silver coins for me when I was a kid. I still check when a coin looks particularly old for a silver one but I haven't found one in years.
