BRRRR!!!

When our alarm went off at 6:00 AM this morning it felt colder than normal in the house. We weren't sure what happened overnight, but we knew the electric was on since our alarm went off. I went in to wash my hair and then woke Chris up. We went downstairs to eat something and it was even colder. We knew that it was supposed to get down to 7 below zero last night, but this was crazy. I checked the thermostat and it said 52 degrees in the house. 52 doesn't sound that cold, but it sure was chilly. Chris went down to the basement to check on the furnace (new 2 years ago) and the burners were not lighting. He came up and checked the stove to make sure the gas was working and it was. So he went back downstairs to check it out. As soon as he took the cover off of the burner compartment it lit right up. He figured that the fresh air intake pipe must have been blocked. After taking me to work he came back home and fixed it. We think a critter may have been trying to build a nest in the pipe. He unhooked the pipe from the furnace and used his leaf blower to blow it out, only finding a few small pieces of bedding. It is working fine now and at least was an easy fix. Thank God I have my own Mr. fix it. Who knows how much it would have cost us.

Chris and Laurie, How odd! The same temp in my house Thurs. morning. Only my Mr. Fix It was out on the road and I had to call a repairman. Luckily I got one to come with in just a few short hours. A belt had broken on the blower and the Thermostat was bad. $300.00 later, my house was back to normal. With the bitter cold here a lot of people are having furnace problems. Glad your problem is fixed and Chris could do the work. Take care and stay warm!

You were lucky! We woke up yesterday morning and our power was out. It was 4 degrees outside. A main tranformer blew out, down the road and 2300 people around us were without power for 24 hours. We went to a hotel for the night.....brrrrrr

But all is well today!

Goodness, with these frigid temps we've been having, having a furnace NOT working is NOT good! lol Glad Chris was able to get it going again. That is such an interesting picture, frost makes quite the fascinating patterns!! xoxo

It can get real cold real quick can't it?!! Animals do find the most inconvenient places to build homes, don't they? Glad your DH is a handy guy - mine is too :)) Hope you stay warm this weekend!
