Garlic and ???

Saturday when we went to get mulch, we also bought some garlic. The owners of the greenhouse said that they had some fresh Elephant Garlic and Italian Garlic, so we had to buy some.
We got probably close to 3 pounds for $4.00. It smelled so good to us on the way home.

We were supposed to put it out to dry for a couple of days but Laurie used some last night in some shrimp scampi that she made. It was delicious.

Check out the size of some of the cloves. (yes that's one clove!!!)

???

I went to my mom and dads today for lunch.

This is what I ate.

Any idea what it is? Let us know what you think.

fried green tomato! or a fritter maybe...

if it's a fried green tomato, promise me you'll try 'em with caesar dressing... that was my favorite combination once upon a time when i worked somewhere with access to fine specimens of both. yum! you're inspiring me for dinner...

Now that I've read bs's comment, I think she's correct.

I was going to guess some sort of cheesy biscuit thing. Hmmm...could be fried zucchini.

Wow on the garlic clove--it's a BIG one, for sure.

I laughed when I saw the garlic because I've just spent half the day making more dill pickles and I used up tons of garlic...it smells like a garlic factory in here! lol My first thought was either deep fried battered green tomatoes or zucchini!! xox

I know!!!! I know!!!! It's an old family recipe, and also a tradition for us. They are punpkin flower pancakes....and very yummy!!! As a kid I couldnt wait for the pumpkin flowers to be open. Gramma Watchey would pick them, rinse them, and make the batter. Even as an adult(who lived around the corner from Gramma and Papa) I could smell them from my house. Then.....a phone call to her. Whatcha doing? LOL!!! She knew I could smell them. I would take off for her house to get them while they were still hot. They are good cold, but the hot ones were the best.
