Salty!

It seems like everything around us lately is salty. The roads, cars, sidewalks and all kinds of other things.
This is one of the local storage areas for road salt in Falconer, NY.

A close up shows that it is a salt and sand mixture used to keep the roads clear.

A snow plow/salt truck clearing the roads and spreading the salt.

This is where it all ends up. Our poor cars and trucks:(

Even the new deck is getting a taste of the salt.

This is the salt that we use daily to keep our sidewalk, steps and driveway clear and ice free.

Oh dear, you're still snowed up? It's really interesting to be reminded of how it is around the world. Our spring is pretty well underway.

That's something we never see in this part of California. I think they put sand (or something!) on the mountain passes when they clear them.) We try to avoid those in the wintertime!

Wow! I wondered how they ever were able to get the roads going in upstate NY with that much snow. In Mississippi, four inches would paralyze the town.

I'm glad when it snows that we don't get that much salt put on our roads. Great salty post. Thanks for the visit and have a great weekend.

It's funny out here in Vancouver, there's hardly ever any need for salt because we don't get much snow. Consequently, you'll see a lot of older cars on the road (like the very first model of Honda Civic from the 70s). It's amazing how much salt will rust the undercarriage of a car !

Yup, I'm very familiar with that kind of salt! lol Living in Northern Ontario, our cars seem to be permanently white all winter with the salt from the roads. Great pictures for this weeks' theme:-) xox
