Architecture!

Since it was such a nice day yesterday, (in the 40's) we drove around Chautauqua Institution and took pictures.
Hope you enjoy the tour.

The Chautauqua Institution was founded in 1874 by Lewis Miller, an Akron, OH, inventor and manufacturer; and John Heyl Vincent, a Methodist minister (later bishop). It is a National Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was designated a National Historic Landmark June 30, 1989.

This is Kellogg Hall.
It was built in 1889 and was moved from Bestor Plaza to its present site in 1905

This is the Athenaeum Hotel.
It was one of the first hotels to have electric lights.

This is one of the many churches in the Institution.

This private home was fully restored in 1999. They did a great job on details, right down to the slate roof.

I really enjoyed your tour and comments. I love how they didn't stick to one single style in the town but combined things. I love the clapboard houses with the towers.

Those are awesome pictures. I especially love it when you did the close ups with all the detail.

Happy St Pats to you too. I will be making the corn beef and cabbage for Saturday and be attending a St Pats parade also. It should be a fun day.
