What A Morning!

When I drove down our street after work on Tuesday all the leaves on one side of the road were picked up, on our side they were all put into the road.

That is one of my biggest pet peeves. We live on a narrow brick street and it doesn't leave much room for cars to get through. Besides that, the street gets very slippery.

I have been having Wednesdays off, but my manager asked if I would work today because one of the department managers is on vacation and he needed my help covering her department. Wednesday mornings are busy in our neighborhood because of garbage pick up. They are usually on our street at 5:30 or 6:00 AM.

Today they did the normal pick up. Then at 6:30 AM I heard a lot of noise and couldn't figure out what it was. Well the city sent up the "sidewalk plow" to get the leaves ready Beep-Beep!!! This is what our road looked like before I left for work. I'm not sure when the recycling truck came by.

I was glad I couldn't sleep in because I never would have. After getting ready for work, I put one foot out our back door on to our deck not thinking anything of it because Chris had been out to start the vehicles. Well, that one step is all I took. (I stepped on a spot of ice) I went down and down HARD! I hit my arm and back on the step. I didn't dare move, I wasn't sure if I broke anything. Chris helped me up after I made sure I didn't break anything. I drove myself to work. I was in some pain. By 3:30 (only a half hour early) I was punching out and coming home. I couldn't take any more. My arm has a nice bruise on it along with the one on my back. Thank goodness I didn't break anything, but I am quite achy.

Oh my gosh, that is so weird about the leaves in the road. What are they thinking?
That is terrible about you falling! You are very lucky you didn't break your arm. That's how I broke my arm last year. I just slipped on the ice in the driveway. We haven't had any ice this year, yet. They are threatening snow this week.

I'm glad you were just bruised. Time to visit Dr. P!

Do you and your mom live on the same street? Your mom's last blog post was about leaves, too. Her street is brick as well. I compared pictures; didn't notice any of the same houses.

I'm glad that you were not hurt badly from your slip on the ice. A couple years ago I slipped on a patch of black ice. I didn't go down; however, my legs and arms flailed every which way. I believe my ice episode is what caused a torn meniscus in my knee, which bothers me to this day.

I'm coming up your way today. I'm meeting friends for lunch at Applebee's. After lunch we will go shopping.

I'm so sorry about your fall,... but thankful that you weren't more seriously injured. Sometimes ice can just look wet, and then we get fooled. Take care of yourself and get some rest.
