Ever since we bought our house the vertical bricks in our fireplace have driven us crazy. They look like they were put in the wrong way. At Christmastime we have a Merry Christmas sign that fits in there perfectly, but the rest of the year it annoys us. Yesterday, we did a little project.
Chris cut out a thin piece of wood that fits in this area. I painted it white to match the mantle, and cut out letters and flowers with my cricut.

I love it! How very creative of you!
Spring is right around the corner, isn't it?
That's just too too cute! I love it - creative, classy and pure cute!!
They say necessity is the mother of invention- you just proved the point - good work!
Good idea! You can have a series of boards. Whatever you do it is an improvement over those horrid vertical bricks... I totally agree with you!
We have those bricks on our fireplace too but the warm air blows out between ours when the fan is on and the fire is burning. I like what you did!
And the spring pictures make me envious. No sign of green here at all. Love the magnolias and dogwoods. And your orchid pictures a couple of posts back - just beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.
Hope your week is a bit quieter than the last one. And congrats to Chris on his exam marks!!
That is a wonderful idea! you guys are so creative, always thinking of things like this!
cheerful - I am always touched by how you two work together...
