A Little Face Lift!

Ever since we bought our house the vertical bricks in our fireplace have driven us crazy. They look like they were put in the wrong way. At Christmastime we have a Merry Christmas sign that fits in there perfectly, but the rest of the year it annoys us. Yesterday, we did a little project.

Chris cut out a thin piece of wood that fits in this area. I painted it white to match the mantle, and cut out letters and flowers with my cricut.

We both like the way it turned out. Now we are going to have to figure out what is going on the mantle for Spring. Laurie has one more stitchery to finish for the window, and we should be ready for Spring.

What do you think?

Good idea! You can have a series of boards. Whatever you do it is an improvement over those horrid vertical bricks... I totally agree with you!

We have those bricks on our fireplace too but the warm air blows out between ours when the fan is on and the fire is burning. I like what you did!

And the spring pictures make me envious. No sign of green here at all. Love the magnolias and dogwoods. And your orchid pictures a couple of posts back - just beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.

Hope your week is a bit quieter than the last one. And congrats to Chris on his exam marks!!
