A Day To Remember!

We all had a very emotional day on Friday. Not only because we buried our Dad, but because of what Dads old friends did for him and the family. They will probably never know how special it was for us. Dad's bike hadn't been on the road or even started for at least 12-13 years, but as you can see his friends got it running so Uncle Randy and my brother Kim could ride it in the procession.
Uncle Randy and Kim led the procession and were followed by about 20 other bikes. Just the sound of Dad's bike starting and all of the other bikes made most of the people there burst into tears. Even with it being such difficult day, it made it a little easier knowing that it was exactly what Dad wanted.

Thank you to everyone that has commented, e~mailed or lit a candle in remembrance of Dad. Reading all of your thoughts and stories will help all of us through this difficult time.

What a wonderful tribute to your Dad! When my Dad died we had a biker's funeral for him too, their were 40 bikes leading the procession. It was exactly what my father would of wanted. Take care of yourselves.

Laurie, you have been in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing your Dad was loved by so many wonderful people.

my son, Andy, has a bike and his "biker" friends, although they may look a little rough - are some of the best and most loyal friends I have ever met. Your Dad was obviously loved and respected by his friends, family and now your blogging buddies. Take comfort in knowing he is watching from above, perfect and whole, riding his bike through the streets of Heaven!
Love,
Colleen

I think the motorcycle parade was wonderful thing for them to do. It shows how well loved your dad was by so many.

Hugs to you,

I am glad it was such a meaningful funeral - I am sure it will help ease the pain of loss - to have the good memories.
