Field Trip!!!

Bear with me, this is going to be a long post. I want you to see everything that mom and I did today. So sit back and enjoy our day with us.

Mom picked me up at 9:00 am.

We started at this nursery.

His plants seemed really high in price.

We didn't buy anything here, but it was fun to look. (and take pictures!)
Then we went to Sandy's...

Sandy's really isn't a greenhouse. She has acres of land and she will go into the fields with you and dig out any flowers that you want. Most are $2.00 a shovel.

We were a little upset because Sandy wasn't there today. We couldn't buy anything :(

Then we ran into this nursery by accident so we had to stop.

We finally bought something here. We both got a Purple Astilbe. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it opens. Mom also bought a new fern that we have never seen before.

Then it was off to Roberts.

They have small pots of perennials for $2.59 we both bought a few things here.

Can you see mom in this picture?

Here is the greenhouse that we love to go to. It is a bit of a drive but we both enjoy it.

It is at the owners house. So she lets you walk through all of her gardens. It is so pretty.

She has three greenhouses. We didn't see a lot of new plants this year, but it was still fun to look.

She has a really neat pond. I didn't buy anything but Mom bought a few things.

Tate's

This greenhouse is also at a couples house. They are both retired. I used to work with the wife at walmart.

They have very good quality plants that are well loved and well taken care of.

The have fields with buckets of plants. You can just walk around and pick out what ever you want.

Mom bought quite a bit here.

We both decided it was time to go home. Neither one of us does very well in the heat. We chose one of the hottest days of the year so far to go to all of these greenhouses. Who knew back in May that it would be this warm in June. It has to be at least 90 and very humid. I am sitting in the air conditioning now and that is were I am staying. We had a very nice day together. We got back to my house at 3:00 pm. Oh, by the way, we did stop and have lunch too.

I love looking at garden centers and nurseries.
I've never heard of someone having a dig and buy by the shovel place, very unique.
Great blog, very, very, nice pictures too!

WOW !!!! You and your Mom were busy little garden shoppers. I love looking at all the flowers at the nursery but my problem is now we have run out of room in the garden so all I can do is look.

Cool - what a great way to spend your mom's birthday! I love Sandy's - how fun. And Sinn Valley and Tate's sound great too - well, I guess they all did!!
Read your mom's blog post about her b'day - looked like she had a great day. Your cheesecake and chicken looked soooo yummy!

What a fun day with your Mom! I wish my mom was a gardener. Although even if she was, there are very few nurseries around here.

I liked that place where she goes out and digs up the plant. We used to have a lady in town who did the same thing. I bought a lot of my Sedumn Autumn Joy and hostas from here for $1 or $2 each.

Sorry about your scrapbook store going out of business.

Mu hubby and I used to love doing tours of Nurseries and Garden centres...always looking for the jewel of a place that we'd not seen before. I'm impressed with the prices (what a lovely idea to buy by the shovelful; a decent perennial is so expensive here in the UK...I guess it's all relative though.
