Steps!

Click on Photo Hunters button to visit other participants.

These are the steps leading to the top of Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks. It is an eight-mile climb from the crossroads in Wilmington. The Whiteface Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway ascends to the summit of the fifth highest mountain in the Adirondacks. The last five miles are the most spectacular as the road winds upward through a changing forest and an alpine summit environment. At the summit parking area, you can take a short hike to the very top or hop on the in-mountain elevator for a truly amazing 360-degree view of the surrounding wilderness.

This is a picture of the Whiteface Mountain Summit Weather Observatory. It houses the equipment of the states Atmospheric Science Research Center.

Hi!
I'm a new photo hunter from Singapore.

I like the steps leading to the mountain, it gave character to the place. Lovely photo and a great write-up.

My husband and I love the Adirondacks and visit there as often as we can-And visiting the Whiteface Mt. was (and always is) a wonderful experience-- just like you show in your fab pictures!
Also wanted to let you know the covered bridge at ASP is located in the Red House area.
Have a great weekend! Claudia O.

Coolness!

Say, have you ever been to Mohonk Mountain House? My mom once went there, and I've always dreamed of going (when I win the lottery :)
