Thank God It's Friday!

This is how we communicate Monday thru Friday since we are working different shifts right now. The only way we get to talk is on our cell phones. We send text messages to each other through out the day and talk for 15 minutes every night. Not a great time, but as we have said before we are both thankful we have jobs. For the first couple of weeks Laurie enjoys having some time to herself, but after a few weeks neither one of us likes it. So, week one is done after today. We will have two days to spend time with each other. We may not be posting on the weekends because of that.
Have a great Weekend!!!

Winter Storm Warning!

We are under another winter storm warning. We could get up to 12 inches of snow! As much as us New Yorkers are used to it, we don't always like it. This is a picture of our back yard last night. We had 6-8 inches of snow on Monday and more on the way. It really is pretty, but boy is it cold.

I am still trying to get caught up on our bloglines. I read some every night, but don't always comment. Chris got moved to a different shift again, so we are trying to adjust to that again. His shop has had some lay-offs, so we are thankful that he still has a job for now. Have a great day!

The Final One!

This is stitchery #6. I have really enjoyed doing these and can't wait for my husband to dig out the window from the garage and get it ready to go.

I hope it turns out as good as the one that we did for mom. We will be posting the finished project sometime soon.

Weather Tease!

This is what it looks like out our front window today. It looks so warm out, and it is warmer than it has been, but I think it is just a tease.
It is so nice to see the sun. We still have snow on the ground and we are going to get more this week.
My poor wheel barrow! It was starting to get pretty beat up last year. I hope it makes it through the winter!!

There are even shadows today!!! We have Baby J. for a few hours tonight. We always have so much fun. We can't wait to see what she has learned this week!!

The Fifth One Is Done!

I got the 5th and 6th (the final one) stichery done for my window. I am only going to show you pictures of #5 today.

These are so much fun to do. I can't wait to see them in the window.
I still have to tea dye all of the pieces and Chris has to get the window ready for me.

I'm not sure what I am going to work on next. I think I need to do something spring! Click here if you have missed the others.

Balloons!

You think of twisting balloons together as entertainment for little kids,

but these photos taken at a "Balloon Fashion Show" in China illustrate how far it has come as an art form.

Some are amazingly imaginative and detailed!

We got these pictures in an e~mail and had to share them.

Weird Toys!

Jerzie plays with some funny stuff when she is at our house.

She is playing with a coffee container here. She likes to take the lid on and off. She will put stuff inside and shake the container, smile and open it up again.
She likes socks on her hands. She will try to play with them on her hands. It is so funny watching her try to pick stuff up with them on.
She laughs at herself.
This is a heart shape box that has scooby doo on the front of it. She will sit and pull it apart and put it back together for quite a while.
Then she will say SCOOBY DOO!! It is so fun watching her. As you can see she does have real toys at our house and mommy always packs some for her, but this is what she likes to play with.

I Got Roses!

Roses from my sneaky Valentine!
I went into work on Thursday at 7 AM and told Chris I didn't know when I would be home so not to plan anything for Valentine's Day because I knew I would be worn out after the week I had.

When I got home these roses were on the dinningroom table waiting for me. My sneaky Valentine came up to Walmart and bought me roses with out me seeing him.

We celebrated Valentine's a day late because I got my 40 hours in by 11:00 on Friday. I had 2 1/2 days off this weekend. Boy did I need it. We went to the Olive Garden for dinner and to the mall for the afternoon. We hope you had a nice Valentine's Day!!

We Are Ready!

It seems like it has been so long!!!
The dip is made and ready to go in the oven. We aren't in our racing attire yet, but will be soon. We will be watching the "Super Bowl" of racing in just a few hours. We hope all of you NASCAR fans out there enjoy the big race. You know who we will be cheering for.

Mississippi Sin Dip

1 loaf french bread
8 oz. container of french onion dip
4 oz. can green chiles, drained
1/2 lb. cooked bacon, chopped
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened

And yes, all this cheese makes it seem very fattening,
but think of all the calcium!
Plus, the bacon provides some protein.
Anyway, cut out top of french bread and scoop out insides. Mix all other ingredients together in a large bowl. Put the dip inside the loaf of french bread and put the top of bread back on. Wrap the whole thing in foil and bake 1 hour at 350. I personally love this served with Fritos Scoops, but it would be great with crackers too.
The first time I made this dip, I made it in the bread. It didn't seem like anyone ate the bread, so this time I just made it in a casserole dish.
We will try to catch up on all of your blogs now that work has slowed down again.

Short Blog Break!

Due to it being crazy at work, (if you don't know all ready Laurie runs the floral dept at Wal*mart) we have decided to take a break from blogging until Valentine's Day is over. We don't have a lot of time together as it is and Laurie will be working more hours and different days than what we are used to. We hope you have a good week and a great Valentine's Day. We will be back soon.

Magic Milk?

A friend of mine at work told me to check this video out on You Tube. I showed it to Laurie and then decided to put it on the blog.

It looked like an easy science project to do with your kids or anyone else that wanted to try it. All you need is milk, food coloring and dish soap.

They didn't say what kind of dish soap to use, but it looked like Dawn to me. If anyone tries it, let us know how it works for you.

No Snow!

The weather has been really different for this time of year in New York. Yesterday it got up into the 50's. I didn't even wear a jacket to work. Today it was cooler and it rained on and off all day.

This picture was taken out our front door at the end of our driveway just a couple minutes ago. (We live on a brick street!)
It's February and we can see green grass!!

We all hope this doesn't mean we are going to have a longer winter this year. Have a great evening. Thank you so much for all of the comments on my stitcheries. They are so fun to do.

Update... Just realized that Mom tagged us. We will have to do our tag tomorrow.

# 4 Done!

When Mom went to the doctor last monday I wanted to take something with me to work on, so I took one of the snowman sticheries I have been working on off and on for over a year. I am making six of them to go in an old window that came out of our garage.

I just loved the smile he had, and that hair just cracked me up.

If you click one the numbers below, you can see the other ones that I have done for the window.

New Favorite!

It must be that my taste buds have changed. I have never really cared for anything that had a smokey flavor, but these Doritos are really YUMMY! Chris can't believe that I actually bought them and eat them. Thank you Donna (the 500th post winner) for my new addiction and Kevin (my favorite Frito-Lay vendor) for bringing them to my store. If anyone else has tried these or tries them now, let me know what you think.

Little Visitors!

Winter is the season in which people try to keep the house as warm as it was in the summer, when they complained about the heat.
