It seems like everything around us lately is salty. The roads, cars, sidewalks and all kinds of other things. This is one of the local storage areas for road salt in Falconer, NY.
A close up shows that it is a salt and sand mixture used to keep the roads clear.
A snow plow/salt truck clearing the roads and spreading the salt.
This is where it all ends up. Our poor cars and trucks:(
Even the new deck is getting a taste of the salt.
This is the salt that we use daily to keep our sidewalk, steps and driveway clear and ice free.
That's something we never see in this part of California. I think they put sand (or something!) on the mountain passes when they clear them.) We try to avoid those in the wintertime! :)
What a fabulous web page!! The Irish in me is just green with envy!...I just dont know how to change backgrounds in this Blogspot! lol..Thanks for visiting me today, and I love your photos of SALT!!! and your recipes look marvelous!!!
It's funny out here in Vancouver, there's hardly ever any need for salt because we don't get much snow. Consequently, you'll see a lot of older cars on the road (like the very first model of Honda Civic from the 70s). It's amazing how much salt will rust the undercarriage of a car !
Yup, I'm very familiar with that kind of salt! lol Living in Northern Ontario, our cars seem to be permanently white all winter with the salt from the roads. Great pictures for this weeks' theme:-) xox

Oh dear, you're still snowed up? It's really interesting to be reminded of how it is around the world. Our spring is pretty well underway.

Wow! I wondered how they ever were able to get the roads going in upstate NY with that much snow. In Mississippi, four inches would paralyze the town.
wow, all your salt pics are wonderful. I'm definitely ready for that kind of salt to go away.
I'm glad when it snows that we don't get that much salt put on our roads. Great salty post. Thanks for the visit and have a great weekend.
thats a lot of salt..i kind of miss the cold weather but not all of the ice
I suppose we should be grateful for this salt...snowing here again...sigh...

WOW.....Your blog is all decorated for St. Patricks Day. Looks great. I'll be so glad when the snow is gone and the trees are beginning to turn green.
Boy am I a dummy! I had a hard time thinking of something salty. Great post!
