Randolph, NY Tornado

My brother, uncle and several cousins have been fishing opening day of trout season in Randolph for quite a few years. We went for the first time this year and it is a beautiful spot to fish at. Unfortunately this area got hit by the tornado last weekend. All of the before pictures were taken this spring and all of the after pictures were taken today. (one week after the tornado)

This tree is by the parking area.

The trail to get to the creek.

Off the trail, heading towards the creek.

Before picture of our fishing area.

Before picture of our fishing area.

Before shot across the creek.

Most of the areas where we fished are covered by fallen trees.

Guess we have a new dam.

Here is a picture of Chris crawling over a huge tree to get a better view.

A picture Chris took from on top of the tree.

A huge tree that was twisted and broken.

Before - This tree always amazed me. I think just because of the size and the age it must be.

After :(

My favorite fishing spot has been covered with downed trees.

The beautiful view from my favorite spot before the tornado.

Chris's fishing spot and view across the creek.

We couldn't believe all of the damage we saw as we walked through there today. The waterway itself is not privately owned so we aren't sure if or when it will be cleaned up. We have been thinking about getting a work crew together (probably all of the fishermen) and clearing the area to make it fish-able before next spring.

Secret Garden Tour - Garden #2

Welcome to The Johnson's Garden

I love the way they used the stones in this garden. From the border to the walk way.

This is the walk way up to the trellis.

Oriental Poppies I want some of these. I love the color and the fringes.

So pretty!!

This birdbath is huge. It looks so neat with all of the Hosta and ferns around it.

Here are a couple close ups from the garden.

I still have four more gardens to show you. It is amazing that some of these gardens have the same plants but look so different at each garden.

Can it really be???

Jerzie Shea turns FOUR today!!
Happy Birthday Jerzie Shea!
Uncle Chris and Aunt Laurie Love you!!!

Bloomin' Tuesday!

We aren't sure where this Morning Glory came from. It is in our back garden.

It has a very light pink edge that doesn't show up too well in the pictures.

Our Hibiscus is really putting on a show this week. It must be happy with all the heat we have been having.

Here is a close up of one of the blooms.

The colors are so pretty.

Even it's back side is pretty.

Happy Bloomin' Tuesday everyone.

Secret Garden Tour - Garden #1

Welcome to the Switala Garden.

All of the cement is out of a barn that was being torn down. It all came from the foundation.

Doesn't this look like a nice place to relax?

More foundation used at the back of the house.

Love this rock!

They put in a dry river bed that their sump pump pumps in to.

Day Lilies

I hope you enjoyed the tour of the Switala's garden. I have 5 more gardens to show you, so stop back again. Mom's garden was the last garden we visited.

Bloomin' Tuesday!

We don't have a lot bloomin' this week, but this is one of my favorites.

Echinacea

We had a couple other colors, but they didn't seem to come up this year.

It is funny how the blooms look different when you take pictures of them.

Have a great Bloomin' Tuesday.

Secret Garden Tour 2010!

As most of you know, Mom and I go to the Audubon Society Secret Garden Tour every year they have it. This year, Mom was in the tour, so we got to tour the gardens the day after the tour. We all met at this garden for drinks and snacks.

I really liked this mushroom in her garden. I'm not sure if it is a light or not. There are a few spread out in her garden.

I'm really not into fairies but I really liked this one.

This lily caught my eye. I love the soft pink color.

Her pond was small but it made a big statement as you came into her garden. This garden wasn't on Saturday's tour but it has been in the tour in years past. The funny thing is that the garden is right up the street from us and I had no idea she had so much land in the back of her house. I have 6 more gardens to show you so come back soon.
