Hummingbirds!

We love to watch the hummingbirds that visit our feeder. We were surprised that they were so busy at the feeder since it was raining so much, but it didn't seem to bother them.

The hummingbirds stopped coming around as much as they were since they were nesting.

Now we have more that are coming around. We have a new feeder for the window, but it is hard to get pictures of them using it. They seem to use that feeder more as the sun is going down.

They are so tiny that they just amaze me. The babies we have coming are very tiny. We had two males fighting over the feeder the other night when we were on the deck. We couldn't believe the sounds they were making.

We have made it to 20 weeks!

On July 6th we had our 20 week sonogram to make sure our little miracle was growing ok. We found out that everything was growing normal and at the right speed. We also found out that we are having a Girl. She is very active. She was moving so much during the sonogram. It was so much fun to watch her. She had her feet on her shoulders for most of the sonogram and her little hands and feet were going like crazy.

We love you Baby W!!!

Chris and I have been married for 17 years. We have been through many rounds of Clomid, have had test after test done on both of us, have been through months and months of infertility treatment and have tried In Vitro Fertilization all with no luck. We both thought that us having a baby was never going to happen. We thought that the only spoiling we were going to be able to do was to our 4 nieces =)

Well, life has been crazy in our house for the past 14 weeks. Yep, we are 14 weeks pregnant. All we can say is that this is a huge miracle. We are both beside ourselves. We don't know if we are coming or going. My doctors are watching me very closely and everything is falling into place. The baby is doing wonderful. Needless to say we are overjoyed and our family and friends are so excited for us.

We will keep all of you updated as things progress.

Perigee Full Moon!

Chris and I went out for a short drive last night to get some pictures of the "Super Moon." It was amazing how close it seemed and how bright it was. Shortly after taking some pictures, it was covered by clouds and we came home. Not sure if the man in the moon ever showed his face again last night.

2 friends and co-workers of mine had a house fire on Sunday and lost everything. They have two boys and no home. Everyone at work has been collecting what ever we can for them.

I was at Mom's today getting some clothes she had for the mother of the family and mom asked if they needed a highchair and a pack n play. I texted my friend to find out. While waiting for a response, I found out that Jerzie would be getting off the bus at Gramma's today, so I stayed so I could see her for a few minutes.

Needless to say, Jerzie didn't want me to leave so I was there longer than I had planned. Not a big deal since I don't see her as often as I should. I was getting ready to leave and I asked Jerzie if she would close the door behind me. Of course she wanted to know what was in the bag, so I told her about the fire and what had happened. She said "I wish if I could help" then shut the door.

I was walking to my car and my phone went off. It was a text that said my friends could use the highchair and pack n play, so I went back in to Moms to get them. Jerzie wanted to help me bring the stuff to the car, so I gave her stuff to carry. She said to me "the baby lost all of his toys?" I said yes he did. That was really bothering her. I told her the little boy was the same age as her sister and that he had an older brother.

We went back into the house and Jerzie went running for her toy box and said "I wish if I could give the baby some of these toys." Gramma and I explained to her that a lot of people were helping the family and it was really nice of her to think of the little boy. We also told her "maybe you have something at home that you and sissy don't play with anymore."

I emailed my sister in law when I got home because I wanted her to know what Jerzie did. They are going to see what they can find that the girls don't play with anymore. Just a reminder, Jerzie is 4 years old. Are you helping those in need around you?

Sorry we haven't been Blogging very much lately. It seems we both have been sucked in to Facebook.

From farming, to checking up on our friends and family, posting little blurbs of what has happened in our day to day activities.

To trying to beat all of our friends and family on Bejeweled Blitz. Time just seems to get away from us. Hopefully when the weather gets better and we are out more taking pictures we will do more posting.

Chris and I tried to go for a walk in the woods yesterday, but the snow was way too deep to walk. In some spots it was past my knees. We took a few pictures before turning around and going back to the car.

This little guy was being shy.

I don't think this one heard us.

This is the trail we normally go down when we go for our walks. It looks like someone was doing some cross country skiing. It started snowing as soon as we got out of the car.

Loved how these pines looked covered in snow.

I had to get a picture of this tractor when we drove by it.

The next two were taken from the car window on our way back home.

It snowed most of the day yesterday.

Sorry we haven't blogged much lately. We only leave the house to go to work, so we haven't been taking many pictures. It has been way to cold for us to go on our winter hikes.

Here are a few items that we made for Christmas gifts. This was my Godmothers recipe for homemade fudge sauce.

We put these gift baskets together for family gifts for Christmas eve. They have the chocolate sauce, chili sauce and garlic salsa that Chris and I made.

These ones are for Chris's side of the family. Same thing in them but we added a bag of white trash.

This is what Mom, Tabatha, Jerzie, Payton and I have been working on for our Christmas craft.

We had so much fun making these.

I made these ornaments for everyone also. We put them in the baskets. I wish I would have made more. I only made one for myself. We made a few more items, but believe it or not, we forgot to take pictures before we wrapped them.

This is the first year we have used a white Christmas tree for our NASCAR tree. The ornaments show up so much better than they did on the green tree.

Notice the cute turkeys on our plates that Grandma, Jerzie and Payton made for all of us.

It was my Moms turn for Thanksgiving this year. We go to my Moms every other year and Chris's Mom and Dads every other year. Mom wouldn't let any of us bring anything for dinner. She worked all day on our meal. We had Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing and Gravy, Waldorf Salad, Green Bean Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole, Corn, Cranberry Sauce, Apple Sauce and rolls. If you left the table hungry shame on you.

Payton couldn't wait to EAT!!

In between dinner and dessert, Payton and Mommy looked at black Friday ads.

Jerzie and Daddy on the computer. Daddy was letting Jerzie type the web site he wanted to go to.

And finally dessert. Mom made two different pies. Pumpkin Chiffon and Dutch Apple. It was very nice to for all of us to get together for a meal. Thanks for doing all of the cooking Mom. It was all delicious.

Week-End At Allegany!

On our first night at Allegany, hubby decided he wanted to get the truck closer to the fire pit so we didn't have to unload all the wood that we brought with us.

Not such a good idea........

The wheels are spinning, but he isn't going anywhere. He was backing up just fine, but he hit a muddy spot and started sliding down the hill sideways.

Yep, it sure was sinking. He worked on trying to get it out for a few hours with no luck. We drove to the lake to call my brother to bring a chain and a jack with him when he came out on Saturday.

It isn't looking good. Behind the truck is a 20+ foot drop off and on the side of him is another drop. The drivers side door won't open because it is against a stump.

Notice Hubby in the truck trying to drive it out after they jacked it up and put wood under it.

After sliding a little further down the hill, they hooked a chain to the back end and pulled it back up towards the cabin. Then they hooked the chain up to the front.

Don't hit the propane tanks PLEASE!!!!

Keep driving!

Yes! Two days later he is OUT!

"Uncle Chris you sure did make a mess" and "you were really noisy" is all that Jerzie kept saying to him.

Allegany State Park!

We got home from our 4 day camping trip last night at about 5:00. We had really good weather, although at night you didn't want to get too far away from the camp fire. We had frost one night.

It is a good time away from everything and to spend time together as a family. There were 7 of us camping in two cabins. My Mom, my brother, Sister in law, our two nieces, Chris and I go every year.

We can't believe how fast the days go when you are outside enjoying nature and the beautiful weather.

We took lots of walks and enjoyed all of the fall colors. This is our favorite time of the year.

We took a lot more pictures and will be sharing soon. Chris and I are packing to head to the Adirondacks first thing tomorrow morning. We are really looking forward to our trip.

The Countdown Begins!

For the past 4 years, our family has been renting a cabin (or two) at Allegany State Park on Columbus Day weekend. We have been going to Allegany on Columbus Day for around 30 years, maybe even longer. We have a big picnic and everyone brings a dish to pass. We spend the day eating, playing and eating some more. It seems that a lot of our family has stopped coming due to the fact that most of them have moved out of town. When we were younger, Mom always said how nice it would be to rent a cabin for the weekend, so 4 years ago we finally did. There have been a few years that we have had snow on picnic day. We are sure hoping that we have nice weather this year.

Since I have had a lot of time on my hands, I have been doing some stitcheries. I'm not sure what I am going to do with them yet. Hubby has to make some frames for them when he gets time.

I still have to tea dye them, but I figured I will be making more so I might as well do them all at once.

I like to do these while sitting in front of the TV. They are also easy to travel with since you don't need to bring much with you.

While packing my lunch for work the other morning, I noticed this little guy out our kitchen window. I went and grabbed the camera off the dining room table to try to get a couple of pictures.

I took a few pictures through the window, then I opened our back door and propped the screen with my foot hoping she wouldn't fly away.

I guess she was too hungry to care that I was taking her picture. I am really enjoying our new camera and almost made myself late for work =)

Our sunflowers that the birds planted for us have started blooming. I am obsessed with them.
I just love the bright color.

The insides of them amaze me. I love nature's design.

New and Improved!

After using our camera for over 4 years and taking 10's of thousands of pictures, it has started to make a strange noise when we turn it on. We are pretty sure that it is the lens mechanism that is going bad. Since we enjoyed this Canon camera so much and loved the pictures that it has taken, it wasn't hard to decide on a replacement. We aren't sure how long the old camera will last, but didn't want it to quit working while we were on vacation or at an important event.

We took the new camera out on a hike in the woods yesterday. We really like having the 20x optical zoom. It is equivalent to a 560mm on a SLR without the added weight. We took quite a few pictures while we were out yesterday and the camera worked great. Check back soon for pictures of our hike.

This sunflower is growing in our yard thanks to the birds. We let a few of them grow. I can't wait for them to open.

This is our Rose of Sharon tree that is growing in our back garden.

This is one of the seedlings that started from this tree. I am very surprised that the color is so different.

Vacation Plans!!

Last night Chris and I decided where we are going to stay on our fall vacation this year. We knew we wanted to stay in the same area but didn't know where to stay. We have always stayed at an Econolodge just outside of Lake Placid but decided it was time for a change.

We did a lot of research on a lot of motels and finally made up our minds. Chris made the reservations last night. =)

We can't wait to get to the Adirondacks again. We relax so much when we are there.

Up Up And Away!

While coming home from my brother's house last week, we spotted this hot air balloon. Of course I wanted to get pictures. My hubby followed the balloon for me and pulled over where he could so I could get pictures.

We weren't the only people that pulled over. People were coming out of there houses to see what all the excitement was.

We thought that they were going to land at Strider Field, but they kept on going.

There doesn't seem to be much room in that basket. Chris would love to do this, but I'm not too sure about it since I get motion sick.

We were sad to hear that Sky Jam was canceled for this year. We both enjoyed going the past few years. Check out THIS POST and THIS POST

Randolph, NY Tornado

My brother, uncle and several cousins have been fishing opening day of trout season in Randolph for quite a few years. We went for the first time this year and it is a beautiful spot to fish at. Unfortunately this area got hit by the tornado last weekend. All of the before pictures were taken this spring and all of the after pictures were taken today. (one week after the tornado)

We couldn't believe all of the damage we saw as we walked through there today. The waterway itself is not privately owned so we aren't sure if or when it will be cleaned up. We have been thinking about getting a work crew together (probably all of the fishermen) and clearing the area to make it fish-able before next spring.

We aren't sure where this Morning Glory came from. It is in our back garden.

It has a very light pink edge that doesn't show up too well in the pictures.

Our Hibiscus is really putting on a show this week. It must be happy with all the heat we have been having.

Secret Garden Tour 2010!

As most of you know, Mom and I go to the Audubon Society Secret Garden Tour every year they have it. This year, Mom was in the tour, so we got to tour the gardens the day after the tour. We all met at this garden for drinks and snacks.

I really liked this mushroom in her garden. I'm not sure if it is a light or not. There are a few spread out in her garden.

I'm really not into fairies but I really liked this one.

This lily caught my eye. I love the soft pink color.

Her pond was small but it made a big statement as you came into her garden. This garden wasn't on Saturday's tour but it has been in the tour in years past.The funny thing is that the garden is right up the street from us and I had no idea she had so much land in the back of her house. I have 6 more gardens to show you so come back soon.

Our 4th Of July!

Our niece Alexis couldn't wait to get in the pool.

We were invited to our niece Stephanie and nephew Nate's house for a 4th of July picnic.

About 20 people showed up to enjoy lots of food, games, swimming, a bonfire, sparklers, s'mores and family.

Chris and I brought our Hillbilly Horseshoe game with us. It was a big hit since nobody there had ever played before.

Everyone kept saying that it was harder than it looked, but they sure had fun.

Brothers ~ not that you can't tell.

After a lot of game playing, it was back in the pool to cool off.

We started a fire a little bit before dusk and got ready to make some s'mores.

Just dark enough for sparklers. Even the big kids enjoyed doing them.

Everyone had a great time even though it was so warm out.

A New - Old Project for Me!

70 year old wood torn out from our attic floor insulation project.

A new 9 gallon pond container since the old metal washtub that we bought at a garage sale had too many leaks in it.

Wild roses growing across the street from us. They smell so good. The blooms don't last very long.
Our Siberian Irises are blooming like crazy this year. Our neighbor gave them to us a few years ago. This is the best they have ever done.
Our Spiderwort is doing very well this year also.
Our Chives are in full bloom too. The bees just love these flowers.

Sad But Necessary!

The Maple Tree in our backyard has been diseased for quite a few years. It has been getting worse every year and has been growing fewer leaves each year. It had mold growing all over it and was starting to rot.

The spot where it was rotting was right in a "V" about 6 feet from the ground. The section of the tree that we were afraid to have break off was roughly 40 feet tall and would have landed on our neighbor's house and garage if it decided to go.

BEFORE

So we decided to have it taken down before anything happened to it.

The company that we had take it down did a great job.

One guy climbed the tree and made very short work of it.

It was interesting to watch the way he climbed around the tree so easily.

AFTER

I am going to cut up the bigger logs to use for firewood on our next camping trip.

I will be taking the brush to the yard waste dump on Saturday.

Laurie and I started cutting up the brush last night.

The first of several loads to get rid of.

My 40th Birthday!

Last Friday night my parents took me, my wife, my sister, 2 of my nieces and my nephew out for a nice birthday dinner. It was nice to get together with the family for dinner, we don't do it as often as we should.

Thanks Mom & Dad!

On Saturday, Laurie had a 40th party for me at the house. She made several different kinds of dips and made cupcakes with yellow and blue sprinkles.

Here are most of the gifts I received. I also got some money to buy some of the parts I will be needing to fix my Camaro.

Laurie also had bowls filled with my favorite candies (tootsie rolls, vanilla tootsie rolls, swedish fish, skittles and pez) set out for everyone to enjoy. She also had M&M dispensers around for the "kids".

I really enjoyed the weekend and don't feel any older even though I am "vintage" now.

Our niece Alexis

It was Chris's Mom and Dad's turn for Easter dinner this year. (we alternate holidays) There were 13 of us up there for dinner this year. We enjoyed the time with all of the family, but for some reason didn't take that many pictures. (strange for us)

We took the first picture, but 'borrowed' the second one from our niece Stephanie. If anyone left the house hungry, it was their own fault, there was plenty to eat.

We hope everyone had a great Easter with their family and friends. We will be posting about our Easter Monday soon.

The Living Room Is Done!

We got all of our decorating done today. (after raking and cleaning up the yard and gardens) At least for now, until I decide to change something or add something. =)
We really like the way this area turned out. We love the way the chairs look against the darker paint. Click HERE to see the old paint color if you missed it.
We found curtains that we like. They really look better in person. The colors are a lot closer in person.
Everything seemed to come together really well.
I told Chris the other day that we have lived here for 12 years and now our living room really feels like a living room.
Whoops, just realized Chris forgot to scrape the windows after he re-painted them.

Butter Baked Chicken and Gravy

From Cooking with Paula Deen, Mar/Apr 2009

I had mine with white rice.

Chris had his with potatoes.

We had leftovers and he had it with rice tonight, but he said he liked the potatoes better.

Butter Baked Chicken and Gravy
Ingredients

1⁄4 cup butter, melted
1 cup all-purpose flour
1⁄8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (15-ounce) can evaporated milk, divided
1 (4 1⁄2-pound) chicken, cut into pieces (I used 6 boneless skinless Chicken breasts)
1 (10 3⁄4-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
3⁄4 cup water
Hot cooked rice (optional)
Asparagus (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350˚.
2. Pour melted butter into a 13x9-inch baking dish.
3. In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, and pepper.
4. In a separate shallow dish, add 1⁄2 cup evaporated milk. Coat chicken pieces with evaporated milk; dredge each in flour mixture. Place chicken, skin side up, in prepared baking dish. Bake, uncovered, for 35 minutes. Remove from oven, and turn chicken.
5. In a small bowl, combine soup, water, and remaining evaporated milk; pour over chicken. Return chicken to oven, and bake for 35 minutes longer. Remove chicken from baking dish; whisk gravy in baking dish until smooth. Serve chicken and gravy with rice and asparagus, if desired.

We really enjoyed this recipe. We wouldn't change a thing. Paula always says follow the recipe the first time, make changes to your taste the second time.

For Christmas 2008 Mom surprised me with this purse from Suzanne at Just Another Hang Up. I loved it. I love the style, the shape and the colors.

This year Mom got me another 'Just Another Hang Up' for Christmas. I told her that I really liked one of the purses Suzanne had posted on her site, so Mom checked to see what I was talking about. The purse had already sold, but this one was still available. It is just about the same except for the circle material around the top. I like this one much better.

Mom and Hubby both told me I shouldn't carry it until Spring. So I waited and waited for Spring to get here. I changed purses one day before the calendar said it was Spring. I love the new shape Suzanne is making now. Once you carry a 'Just Another Hang Up', no other purse will compare to it.

Spring Walk!

It was a beautiful first day of Spring here, so instead of wasting the day sitting in the house, we decided to go for another walk in the woods.

Chris took me on some different trails today. I got to see more of the area where my brother and Chris hunt.

This is one of the ravines about 3/4 of a mile into the woods. The water really wasn't that deep considering all of the snow that has melted in the past week.

They seem to see a lot of deer in this area during hunting season. We only saw one deer (well at least it's white tail) on this trip, but did see countless turkeys running through the woods.

Thought this broken tree stump was neat.

Liked this tree too.

The big pond was still partially frozen, but it still looks nice with the blue sky in the background.

We were surprised when we got back to the truck that we had been in the woods for over 2 hours.

What a great way to spend the first day of Spring!!!

After I remodeled the kitchen a couple of years ago, we weren't sure what to do with the back-splash. A recent trip to Lowe's for supplies to paint the living-room gave us the answer. One type of tile that we had been looking at was on sale for less than 1/2 price. They are 5/8 inch tiles preset in 12x12 inch squares.

I started by sanding the paint off the walls to rough them up. I put on a thin layer of mastic and let it dry. I wanted to make sure that I had a good surface for the tiles to bond to. I worked on the area above the sink on Thursday.

On Friday, I worked to finish up the area under the cupboards and finished up the rest of the sink wall.

The tiling is done. Now I had to wait 24 - 48 hours for the mastic to cure.

On Monday morning I mixed the grout and got started working on that.

The first of 6 times that I wiped the tiles down.

I got the electrical all put back together yesterday and put the cover plates back on.

I also cut the pencil molding and got it glued in place. I still have to seal the grout, fill a couple of nail holes where I removed a piece of trim board and touch up the nail holes, but other than that the project is finished.

Hopefully the HDMI cable I ordered for the TV in the living-room will be here this week so I can get that hooked up and patch the hole in the wall. Then I can get the painting done in there.

We always bring our camera with us no matter where we are going. You never know when you are going to see something to take a picture of. When we went to Lowe's the other day, we had the camera. Chris took a couple of roads we don't usually go down to see if we could get some pictures.

I thought this was a pretty neat picture with the snow in the back ground.

This guy was trying to find food under the pine trees.

I think this is what Chris and my brother usually see in the woods when they are hunting. =)

Chris tried to get some pictures of this group of deer, but they started running after the first picture.

Winter Walk!

It is a beautiful day here in Western NY so we decided to get outside and enjoy the weather. We drove to where Chris and my brother Kim go hunting.
Usually the parking lot and this trail are plowed, but for some reason they aren't this year. We had to follow snowmobile tracks so we didn't sink into the snow.
Here are a couple close ups we took.
The snow was so deep in some spots that it came up to Chris's knees.
We had a nice walk but didn't go into the woods as deep as we normally would have. It was just too hard to walk. It was still nice to get outside and get some fresh air.
We went to one of the ponds and this was the only spot that wasn't frozen over.

Still Remodeling!

This is what our lamps have looked like for 16 years. My Grandmother bought them for us as a wedding gift. We weren't sure if we wanted new lamps or if new shades would do. On Monday, we went to The Home Depot and Big Lots to look at new lamps. We didn't find any we liked.
Yesterday we decided to drive to Warren, PA and go to Lowe's to see what they had. We saw a couple of lamps we liked, but they were really close to the ones we already had. We really liked this lamp shade, so we decided to buy two and bring them home and see what they looked like on our lamps. We decided that we like them.

Now it is time to pick a paint color. We have picked up paint chips from Wal*Mart, Home Depot and Lowe's.
Who knew that there were SO many different colors of tan and brown. We thought we had it picked out, then we brought more home yesterday. We went through them again today and we think we have it picked out. Chris is probably sorry he brought me with him to Lowe's because now he has a bigger "honey I would like you to do list." =)

Ice Castle!

Laurie got out of work early last Monday and we decided to take a trip to Mayville to see this year's ice castle. We hadn't had the chance to go for the past few years.

This is a close-up of the ice blocks. They each weigh between 400 and 500 pounds.

It was a beautiful day to spend time outside. A little cold, but the sun was out.

While driving to Mayville, we had hardly seen any one ice fishing. This must have been a good spot for it. The ice fishers were all lined up across the lake.

They have been building the ice castles since 1987. (weather permitting) To find out more about it, click HERE.

We enjoyed our afternoon and being able to see the castle in person again. We had seen other peoples photos the past few years, but really liked going back again.

The Reason For The Change!

For quite a few months, we had this random green spot that would appear on our TV. Sometimes it would go away pretty fast, but other times it would stay there for a while. So I decided to jump into action before the TV decided to stop working.

I bought us a new TV. I moved the Armoire out of the way and set it up on a small table to begin with. I didn't know that it was going to be there for 2 weeks. :~(

That's how long it took to finally get a technician from Dish Network to our house to install a new satellite dish for our HD. They were supposed to be here on a Thursday, but after sitting here until 2:30, they called and canceled. Then they were supposed to be here on the following Tuesday, but called at 1:30 and canceled again. They finally showed up Thursday and got the new equipment hooked up.

I was finally able to do the rest of the installation. After a few small issues, (the chimney is behind this wall) I got the mounting bracket up on the wall. The chimney isn't used any more since our water heater is electric and the new furnace is vented out through the wall, but I still had to drill four 1/2" holes into it.

I finished hanging it on the Saturday before the Super Bowl.

So, without the armoire there, we decided to move our rocking chair to the corner to the right of the new TV. That gave us room by the fireplace to buy the 2 new chairs in THIS POST.

A Little Change?

We had been wanting to buy fireside chairs for our living room for some time. We finally found some we liked in the right colors. The only problem was that we couldn't sit in them to test them out. Chris actually found them online at Wal*mart.com. They shipped them to our store for free and we only had to attach the legs. They are really comfortable and we won't have to bring in chairs from the dinning room anymore when we have company.

We really liked the pictures that we had in the living room, but we didn't care for the gold frames anymore. We decided to try and darken them up with some copper paint. Laurie dry brushed the frames yesterday and we both like them much better now.

~Trouble~ Jerzie liked making the dice pop and sending people back home.

On Sunday, Mom invited us all over to play games and have dinner together. We used to get together almost every Sunday, but with all of our busy lives, we hadn't for quite a while.

We decided to clean out our spare bedroom today. It seems to be a catch all room as of late. We had enough. We threw out 4 garbage bags of stuff that we kept for no apparent reason. We also have a huge box full of cardboard. Thankfully cardboard can go out this week with our garbage. We also have one garbage bag full of clothes that we will be giving to a needy family that always appreciates our help. We filled up 2 boxes with stuff for our next garage sale. (not sure when that will be) The bad part is that we only made it through 3/4 of the room so far. We could have used help from TLC's Clean Sweep. Maybe not, my husband has a fit when they talk people into giving up things that have sentimental value. (Yes like our foot stool!!!)

Girls Day!

We had a girls craft day before Christmas, but didn't want to show the pictures of the crafts because we were giving them as gifts.

Mom is sewing and Tabatha is cutting circles out of a linen tablecloth, a terrycloth bath towel and muslin.

Tabatha decided to take a turn sewing.

Even though there isn't a picture of me, I stuffed most of the circles.

We used peppercorns for eyes on the snowmen, a rusty snowflake (hard to find), stick on felt for the noses and miscellaneous items for decoration. I found the pattern HERE for free.

The 5 of us had a fun day together.

New Year's Eve!

Mom, Kim, Tabatha, Jerzie and Payton came for dinner on New Year's Eve. I forgot to take pictures of the main course. Here are pictures of the appetizers.

We had a Cheese Tray, Shrimp Dip and Shrimp Cocktail for appetizers. For dinner we had a salad, baked potato's, steaks (on the grill) and Shrimp Scampi.

Daddy bought some New Year's horns for Jerzie. She had fun blowing it through the house.

We spent Christmas afternoon at Mom and Dad's.

When she comes to our house, she always seems to play with the Mr. Potato Head we have here, so one of her gifts was a 40 piece set.

She finished opening her gifts and had someone unpack it for her.

Even Nate enjoyed playing with it.

We don't seem to have a lot of time to sit down and write a blog this time of year. We have so many things going on. We got our tree on the 12th. Here it is with our topper and 700 lights.

All decorated. We did it a little different this year. We put mostly homemade ornaments on and ornaments that are really special to us.
All wrapped. Every person we buy for gets their own paper, so when we go to deliver our gifts, we know which ones go where.
Chris took his last final on the 15th. He is done with school now. He got his grades last night. He ended up with a 4.00 GPA !!! I am so proud of him.

We aren't sure when we will be posting again, but we will try so you can see our Christmas.

After missing a decent buck during archery season and missing a huge buck the Saturday before last, I finally got a deer for this year. I will still be going out next weekend to see if I can fill my buck tag.

This is one of the biggest doe's I have gotten. We figured it at between 110 - 120 pounds. Not too many people I have talked to have gotten anything this year, and when we took this one to be processed, I was only the 200th deer for the season.

Since I have been off of work and couldn't go back until my fever broke I have been working on some Christmas crafts.

I saw these at A Fine House blog and thought they looked like fun to make.

HERE is the blog that gives great directions on how to make these.

Chris thought I was crazy to be making them, but I think they turned out really pretty.

The other craft I am working on I can't show you, but here is a little hint of what is going on.

Thank you for all your get well wishes. I went to the doctor yesterday and was told I could go back to work today. My doctor said I had no more fever or any signs of an infection so I can go back and hopefully by next week I will be back to normal, whatever normal is.

No Visitors Please!

I have been sick since last Monday. As the days went by, I didn't seem to be getting any better. From the fever to the runny nose nothing seemed to let up. On Friday I called my Doctor. When I was telling the receptionist that I needed an appointment she asked what was wrong. I started to tell her my symptoms, and she said I will have a nurse call you and we will go from there. So I waited for the nurse to call. I started telling her what was going on and she just kept saying "oh boy." What does oh boy mean? It means leave it to me I got H1N1!!! Fantastic!!! I am so glad Chris and I talked and decided I should stay home for Thanksgiving this year. Between all the kids and health issues in the family we thought it would be best. I have been in the house since Sunday. I can't go back to work until my fever breaks and is gone for 24 hours. I'm working on some Christmas crafts that I can put down anytime and go rest.

We are starting the count down to shotgun season in our house. Chris and my brother will be going out first thing Saturday morning. I never know when they will make their way home. We both have cell phones, so once in a while I check in on him and make sure he is doing OK. I try my hardest not to worry. After 15 years of Chris hunting, I have a peace about him being in the woods. Besides, I always know when something happens to him before he calls or comes home to tell me. It is freaky to a lot of people that I sense this, but I always know. Do you have a hunter in your home? Do you make something special for him/her when they get home from the woods?

While Chris and my brother were out in the woods yesterday morning trying to find the perfect spot for opening day of shot gun season which is next Saturday, I made a brown paper bag Dutch apple pie.

Yep, you bake the pie in a brown paper bag.
No, the paper bag doesn't catch on fire.
Mom has been making this recipe for a while. It is the best apple pie recipe and is very easy.

Mom and I went to Hamburg yesterday to the Christmas In The Country craft show. There are 5 buildings with food and crafts in them. We go every year and always have a great time. We both bought some Christmas gifts. It is always nice to get some of them out of the way early. We had such a nice day weather wise also. Most years it is either raining, snowing or very cold. It was a lot busier than we have ever seen it. It took us about 3 hours to see everything and to have lunch. Then we went to Tuesday Morning, Marshalls, Kohls, Target, Joann's and AC Moore.
