Family Picnic!

This picture is of our niece Alexis at our family picnic with Chris's family last night. We forgot to take pictures of all the food we had. If you were hungry when you left it was your own fault. There was plenty for you to eat. It was a beautiful evening to sit out on the deck and enjoy the fresh air. (until the bugs came out to join us!) We are going to a picnic this afternoon at mom's house. We hope you enjoy your Labor Day Weekend!

Barn Sale!

On the way to Lowe's on Sunday, Chris and I drove past this sale and he said he wanted to stop on the way home. So we pulled over on the way back to do some scrounging.
We are sure glad that we decided to stop.

I found this Keystone 8mm movie camera. It was only $3.00 and it had to go home with me for our collection.

We have a projector and a box of family movies that came from Chris' grandparents. We wonder if this is the kind of camera that Grandpa used.

Chris saw this box behind some stuff that wasn't for sale and pulled this Polaroid bag out.

He opened it up and found a very cool camera inside. He told the lady running the sale that it didn't have a price on it and asked if it was for sale. She said sure, give me $2.00 for it.

Chris really didn't let me look at the camera while we were at the sale. He just closed the box and told the lady "we will take it".

It is a bigger Polaroid than we had ever seen before. It is also really heavy. Not the kind of camera that a blogger would want to carry around all the time.

It packs away flat, but pops open when you want to use it.

Believe it or not there is a new package of film in the camera. It is on #1.

All of this stuff was in the camera bag too. Everything was like brand new. It is all going to go on the shelf with the rest of our collection.

The woman at the sale said that she is going to have a sale every weekend until the weather starts to get bad. Chris wants to go back and dig around some more since we didn't have a lot of time to spend there. We will update you on all of the treasures we find next time.

You Did What?

It seems like every time I have something to do around the house I can't get it finished without an injury of some kind. It doesn't matter if I am working on the truck (smashed my knuckles), building our deck (nail through my foot), carrying out a freezer (coil ends stuck in my arm), cutting down weeds (sliced my finger open)

Anyway you get the idea.....

Today I was cutting some strips of wood to finish off a doorway when.....

I decided to run 2 of my fingers through the table saw.
Luckily I didn't get more than the ends of my thumb and index finger.

Laurie always says "if you don't get hurt it must be you didn't do the job right". I know she is just joking with me because I am always getting hurt. Somehow she seems to know when I do something like this. She knows before I call her to let her know. (like today)

It must be that this job got done right.

Bloomin' Tuesday!

Chris and I went to a local fruit and produce stand on Sunday to buy some corn. While we were there, we took these Sun Flower pictures.

This one had to have been about 8 feet high and 18 inches across.

I Love Them Already!!

In July we received an e~mail from someone we didn't even know. He was cleaning out his mothers home and came across something that he didn't want to just throw away. He decided to do some research on the Internet and our blog popped up. After quite a few more e~mails back and forth this package was delivered to our house.
This man was very generous and trusting. He sent these to us for free. All he wanted from us was to send him back what it had cost him to send them here.

Say hello to our 2 new Attic Babies.

For more information and to see why he contacted us click HERE.

This is Slidin' Sal.....

and here is Scootin' Scooter.

We can't even begin to explain how excited we were when we opened them up and saw that they were red heads. They are 2 of the Attic Babies that we didn't have in our collection and were very happy to receive.

Because we told him in one of the e~mails that we were baseball fans, he also added this little guy to the package.

Thank you so much for thinking of us.

We promise to take good care of them.

Fixed?

We hope that the problem with our blog is fixed now. Chris made a couple of changes to the template. We did have one blogger tell us that when she opened our blog using FireFox that the white background didn't show up, but that it did when she used Internet Explorer.
Please let us know either way.

Nature Walk!

We took these pictures when we went on a walk in the woods on Sunday. We went to the place where Chris deer hunts. You never know what you are going to see when you start walking through the woods.
We never saw any deer, but we heard them a few times. Most of the dragonflies we saw this trip didn't land very often, so we didn't get a lot of pictures of them.

A few people have left comments that they are having a hard time reading our blog. Please leave us a comment and let us know if you can read our blog OK. We have a white background behind our pictures, but some people say it isn't showing up. Is the white background showing up when you open our blog??

It's all wildflowers this week.

A while back we did a post about Queen Anne's Lace. Click HERE to read about it.

We thought that this one was interesting.

Curing The Smoker!

We finally got a nice day that we were staying home that the wind wasn't blowing and there was no rain. So Chris decided it was time to get the smoker out and cure it. He had to rub the whole inside with cooking oil first, then put in charcoal and add wood as needed.
He let it burn for 3-4 hours so it should be good and ready for some meat. I can't believe he hasn't made jerky in it yet.
While doing other things inside, he made sure the fire stayed lit.

When I bought him the smoker I also bought him a smoker cook book that has lots of rubs and good recipes in it. We will have to let you know what he makes first.

You Have To See This!

This video is just too cute not to share. We saw it at Leesa's blog yesterday and knew we had to share it.

Butterflies!

When we went out for a walk the other day, we were glad we took the camera with us. Oh yea, that's right we always have our camera :)
Chris got these butterfly pictures just around the corner from our house. We seem to have good luck with picture taking in that area.

Don't forget to click on them to enlarge :)

Bloomin' Tuesday!

I am posting all yellow this week because we haven't seen a lot of sunshine this week.

I'm not sure what this plant is but I really like the leaves.

All of these pictures were taken at the Secret Garden Tour.
Our gardens aren't doing so well this year. I really haven't had the time to take care of them the way I normally do.

I hope these pictures bring you a little sunshine.

Sunflowers are one of my favorites to take pictures of.
