How Exciting!!

We got to see our first hummingbird at our feeder on Sunday. Chris and I were sitting on the deck and he said what is that at the feeder a bee? Um no its a hummingbird. Of course we didn't have the camera outside with us. What were we thinking? So we waited with camera in hand to see if it would come back.
It or another one did finally come back.

They are so fast it is hard to get pictures of them.

We thought this picture was pretty funny.

Bloomin' Tuesday! (Driving Hubby Crazy!!)

If you have Columbine in your garden you know that it will grow just about anywhere a seed is dropped. Well for the last couple of years we have pulled these out before they get too big. It didn't work this year.
These are growing between our driveway and our foundation. There is no soil to be seen. When Chris re-sealed the driveway last year he pulled out what he could and cut down the rest.

This year they grew back bigger and fuller...
...and there are three growing now.

He just gets so mad that they are growing there.

He doesn't seem to care how pretty they are.

He says he is going to buy weed killer and see if he can get rid of them that way.

Happy Memorial Day!

And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

A Few Visitors!

We have had a few visitors lately at our bird feeder and in our yard. We aren't sure what kind of bird this is, but when the sun hits its head just right it is a shinny blue color.
I took this picture through the window of our dinning room. It was a cold evening. I'm not sure if they were eating or just trying to stay warm.

When they heard the screen door open they weren't sure if they were safe or not.

We have lots of these little guys that visit us.
There are a few other small birds that visit also but they fly away as soon as I get the camera.

We have a male Cardinal that visits also but I haven't been able to get a good picture.

This picture isn't the best, but it made me laugh.

We hope you are having a good weekend.

14 Years!

Yesterday was our 14th Wedding Anniversary. Time seems to go so fast. Here are some of the gifts we received from our family.

We got this cute garden statue. We have never seen one that had a hint of color to it.

Look at the detail on his shoe and on the bench.

and the detail on her shoe and the bench.

And the detail on there cute little faces.

We also got two Panini cookbooks. Can you guess what we will be trying out this weekend?

We got this really neat flower. It is called Star of Bethlehem.

We also got some gift certificates for restaurants we like to eat at and a lot of cards. We went to dinner at our favorite restaurant. After dinner we went to visit mom at the hospital. She is doing very well. She is home and resting now. We will see how long we can keep her down for. To read more about moms surgery click HERE.

Bloomin' Tuesday!

These Cherry trees are some of our favorites to take pictures of every year. They are growing just a few blocks from our house. The air around them is just filled with the sweet scent from them.

Family Photo!

We sold benefit tickets for Dad to help pay for medical expenses. Today was the drawing, so we all got together for lunch and to draw the winners. Remember the white shirts that Laurie bought? You can probably tell by the picture that we made Lymphoma shirts for all of us to wear. They say "I Wear Lime Green for" "my dad", "my husband", "my father in law" and Jerzies says "for my papa". We probably shouldn't tell you what we put on Dads shirt. The cash prizes totaled $850.00. We haven't added up all of the money yet, but we think Dad will end up with about $4000.00 to help with expenses.

Special Vase!

Mom and I went to a couple of household sales on Tuesday afternoon. I had another day off during the week. When I saw this vase, I knew I had to have it. Gram (Super Lou) had one just like it. (Mom has it now) I remember her putting Pansies in it all summer. So now I can have a cute vase that reminds me of Gram. Who wouldn't pay $2.00 for a bunch of memories?

Bloomin' Tuesday!

Here are some more pictures that I took last Wednesday on my day off. I showed all of the pink flowers HERE.

I was amazed how big this Dogwood was. I didn't think they got that big.

A close up of the Dogwood.

I'm not sure what kind of tree or bush this is, but I thought it was very interesting.

When I got close it looked like little bells hanging all over it.

A very large rhododendron.
The buds are very pink.

One more close up.

Mother's Day Gifts!

We gave bird feeders to our mothers for Mother's Day this year. For the past couple of years we have bought our mothers hanging baskets for Mother's Day, but when I was at the craft show with mom I saw these and had to buy them.
We gave this one to Chris's mom. You put a square suet block in it. The flower is on a re-bar pole.

When mom and I were at the craft show I told her I couldn't decide which one to get for my mother-in-law so we walked around a little more and I told her I think I am going to buy one of each. Chris can decide which one to give to his mom and I will keep the other one.

Well I bought both of them so I could give mom one for Mother's Day because I knew she really liked it but didn't want to spend the money.

You can put a suet bell in it upside down. I think I got her again!! She called me a brat yesterday when we gave it to her.

Easy Recipe!

Another one of Chris's favorites. Homemade Chicken Pot Pie. It makes a 9x13 pan.
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 soup can of Milk
3 chicken breasts already cooked and cut into pieces
3-4 Potato's boiled and cut into small pieces
1 bag of frozen Peas and Carrots
Mix all ingredients together in a large pan and warm on low heat.

Crust ~ I make 2 batches of 2 layer pie crusts or I use 2 Pillsbury pie crusts in the box. Roll out one crust and put it in a greased 9x13 pan. Pour in the warm filling. Cut the 2nd pie crust into strips and cover the top. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 - 40 min. or until golden brown.

This is a very busy weekend as we have said already. Laurie has to work all weekend so we won't be able to visit too many blogs. We hope you all have a great weekend and a nice Mother's Day!
